Ok, get ready for A LOT of pictures!!!!! Our week at Bald Head was AMAZING. We had beautiful weather, incredible food and the best family time. A fun time was had by all.
For the past three years Mom and Dad Utsey have rented their friends' house on Bald Head for the first week of June. Mama Utsey wanted to start this tradition so that when we grew up and had babies (and our lives got busier) we would have a whole week of family time. And if you know me well, I am ALL about some family time! Especially with my family. They are the best.
The house has a beautiful view of the ocean from practically every window. This year was VERY different from years past because we had our new, not quite so little addition to the family! In past years we would all sleep in, enjoy a delicious brunch of bacon, eggs, coffee (lots of coffee) and toast. Lay around reading books until we decided it was beach time and then move to the beach. We'd follow that up with an afternoon nap, showers, a tasty dinner and wine!!!
This year was pretty similar to past years EXCEPT we all got up a bit earlier and had breakfast around 8:00 am! When you get up that early at the beach you have a great day ahead of you to fill with lots of fun activities like going to the pool, shopping, beach time, riding beach cruisers, napping, etc.
I feel like this year was so much fuller because we had more time to enjoy each others company and of course we had Van there to entertain us! We made a million memories that we will cherish forever and as you can see below I tried to capture them all on film.
Our first evening there, Uncle Josh fed Van his dinner of carrots. MMM!
He loved them!
The next day Van took his morning nap on Uncle Josh. So sweet.
Then we went to the pool. This was Van's first time in a pool and he was a little apprehensive at first. The water was kind of chilly. Brrrrr! Don't you wish you had those lashes? I know I do!
Getting the hang of floating.
My two water babies. Like father, like son.
Enjoying the shade with mommy.
Uh-Oh! Van got a hold of Derek's hat!
Love that sweet face.
Lunch at Eb & Flo's - they have the World's Best Bloody Mary!
My attempt at a family beach photo. Van was NOT interested so we decided to try the next night. But then this happened............
You should have seen the road.........OUCH!
Is it just me or does Van look HUGE in this picture?!? I think he must have grown while we were there!
Where Mama Utsey spent a lot of time with Van. The sound of the waves and the gentle breeze would put him right to sleep! Just look at that view! Even Hurley enjoyed the screened in porch.
trying to catch a wave
the beach makes us HAPPY!
Uncle Josh loved Van in his hat!
There we go with our finger in our mouth. (Van got his first tooth on June 3rd.) Pondering his next move...........
which was to help Papa Utz answer the phone for DJ Distributing!
Van got to spend time with his Great-Grammy too! We love you Grammy and were so happy you were there with us.
The colorful sunset from our deck.
Our little monkey - looks like he needs a vacation from his vacation! He loves his Mimi!
I'm going to try to take this picture every time we go to Bald Head so that one day we can put them all side by side to see how much Van has grown!
This was from our very first trip with Van to BHI when he was only 3 months old:

Your baby is a doll! I'm going to Bald Head Island for the first time for my 1 year wedding anniversary labor day weekend and we're so excited! your blog came up while I was doing a BHI search :)
