Showered with Love

Angie and Haley threw me one amazing baby shower on October 24th. The day started out with Haley and I going for a mani/pedi. While at the spa, Angie called to let us know that a transformer in her neighborhood had blown and her power had gone out. It could be out for hours she said. So, after getting our nails done we headed straight to her house to see how we could help. We decided to get lunch and wait until 2 (the shower started at 3) to see if the power would come back on in time before deciding where to take the food that needed to be baked. Luckily, right when they started cutting up vegetables, the power turned back on! And the shower went off without another hitch.

There was cheese & french bread, tortilla chips & corn salsa, crudites, orange slices & Godiva chocolate, taquitos and .........

Carrot Cake!!!!

It was so great to see all my friends together in one place celebrating the arrival of Baby Utsey.

Look at that baby bump!! It amazes me every time I see it!!

Baby Utsey received many fabulous gifts. The softest blankets and crib sheets, cute hooded towels, books, adorable onesies, bibs, burp cloths, his car seat, a bumbo, an activity center and baby necessities like a bottle brush, diapers, wipes, hangers, and outlet covers!

Thank you so much to Angie and Haley for putting this day together for us and to everyone who came and also to those who were there in spirit. We are so blessed to be surrounded by many loving family and friends. It warms my heart to know how very loved Peanut is already. He has many special and wonderful people that will be a part of his life. We love you all with all our hearts.

Midwife Update - 34 weeks

I had my 34 week midwife appointment today. Baby Utsey was sleeping but still had a strong heartbeat in the 130s. It always makes me tear up everytime I hear that sweet sound. I also got the H1N1 flu shot today. The shot itself didn't really hurt but I know my arm is going to be so sore for the next couple of days.

I'll be 34 weeks on Thursday but I was measuring at 37 weeks today so they want to do another ultrasound at our next appointment. Which means more pictures of Peanut! I can't wait to see his little face. He may arrive sooner than 6 weeks!!!!

Over the weekend my two great friends Angie and Haley threw me a fabulous baby shower! It was such fun to see all my friends gathered in one spot and all there to support and show love for Baby Utsey. I'll post more pictures soon.

Haley & Grey stayed with us all weekend and while we had our shower, the boys had a "man shower" for Derek. Umm yea you can see the shenanigans that took place later when we returned!

Poor Haley has no idea what is about to happen......

Bahahahahaha!!

32 weeks and counting

We have started the 3rd trimester and December 10th is fast approaching! Baby Utsey is healthy and by all the movement in my belly - he is happy too. I've started seeing my midwife every two weeks and each appointment has gone well. My measurements have caught up to my due date and Peanut's heartbeat is strong.

I'm still working at Modern but I have put in my notice for leave starting on November 28th. My last day at work will be November 24th and I plan on returning on June 1, 2010. Business is picking up and facials are taking me a little longer than they used to and really taking my energy. But I love being able to see all my regular clients before I leave for 6 months.

I've definitely started feeling a little uncomfortable, short of breath and stretched to the limit. He still needs to put on some weight so I know I will have to stretch a little more. Going to the gym really helps me feel better and the cool weather has helped tremendously.

Me at 32 weeks and my beautiful friend Brooke at 23 weeks.

I have my next midwife appointment this Monday, October 26th. I can't believe how fast October is flying by!

Peanut loves:
Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins
Hot Chocolate
Jack Johnson
Dave Matthews
Ginger Snaps

Peanut says no thank you to:
Climbing stairs
Sleeping in
Sitting still for long
Lifting heavy objects

Let's Brunch, Baby! Hosted by the Spafia

On Sunday, October 11th my wonderful spa friends (The SpaFia) hosted a Brunch Baby Shower for me at Nicole's beautiful home which we appropriately call the Little Biltmore! We had the best time sitting out on her front porch in the cool October weather, catching up and laughing so hard I saw a few tears.

The food was delicious. Nicole made the most wonderful brunch with homemade veggie cream cheese, english muffins and smoked salmon, chili cheese puff casserole, breakfast cheesecake, and of course there were cookies and cake, mimosas and coffee. Each of us were given a Recipes to Remember booklet.

The beautiful Nicole and her cake creation.

The girls got together and filled a baby bathtub with bath time and bedtime goodies like wash cloths, an adorable green frog hooded towel, froggie pajamas, one fish two fish by Dr. Seuss, and other baby essentials. Murphy was very helpful when it came time to open Peanut's gifts! Mom got me the coolest diaper bag from Coach. I love it and can't wait to start using it!
