We just returned from an incredible week on Kiawah Island with my family. I'm going to do this post in 3-4 parts since we took over 300 pictures and it was very hard picking which ones to share. We made so many fun memories and we're already looking forward to next year's trip!
First of all the house we stayed in was AMAZING!! It had a main house and cabana with a courtyard and a pool in the center. The pool was a godsend and has me wishing we had a pool in our backyard at home. It would be such a relief in this 98 degree weather, not to even mention the extreme humidity!
Part One: Sun
Needless to say we all got a lot of sun last week. Between the pool and the beach (which was a short bike ride away) we all got our fair share of vitamin D.
Some of us (ummmm Jerr) got too much sun!
Ouch! That looks like it hurts. Well, what goes best with a lot of sun you ask?????
NAPS!!!

A list of our sun essentials this trip:
*Sunscreen (I bought a bazillion of the Target Up & Up twin packs and we used almost all of them!)
*Zinc Oxide:
*Tervis Tumbler filled with a cold bevy: the most common seen around the pool were a bloody mary, vodka soda & lime, frozen margarita or water
*A cute hat to keep the sun out of your eyes: Van is obsessed. He won't leave the house without his fedora and now he won't let mommy & daddy leave without theirs too! We look a little silly walking out of the house these days.
*Stylish sunnies: I got these bad boys on our trip since my Chanel pair were killing me.
Van's swim essentials:
*Life vest
*Swim shoes
*Rash guard
*boardshorts
and of course you can't forget the swim diaper!
Van amazed us on our second day in Kiawah when he broke away from Derek in the pool and swam across all by himself. I was shocked. The first day we had him in the pool he didn't understand that he could float so he kept turning onto his face. I thought for sure it would take the whole week for him to learn. Then the next day he is jumping (more like stepping) off the side of the pool and kicking himself wherever he wants to go! It didn't take long for him to catch on that his arms and hands helped propel him even faster. We have a little fish on our hands......
